CNC cuts are an automated manufacturing process in which a machine tool, such as a CNC router, CNC laser, or CNC plasma cutting machine, follows a program of instructions to cut or shape materials. At Scenic, we showcase some of the types of CNC cuts and their applications: CNC Milling: A rotary cutter is used to remove material from a workpiece. It can be used to produce three-dimensional shapes and precise details. CNC milling is common in the manufacturing of metal and plastic parts. CNC Laser Cutting: It uses a laser beam to cut through materials such as metal, wood, plastic, acrylic, and fabric. This method is fast and precise, commonly used in the manufacturing of electronic components, signs, models, and metal parts. CNC Plasma Cutting: It employs a hot plasma jet to cut through electrically conductive materials like steel, aluminum, and copper. Suitable for cutting thick materials, it is used in the manufacturing of metal structures, automotive components, and general metal fabrication. Wire EDM (CNC Wire Cutting): A conducting wire is used to erode the material and create precise cuts. It is especially useful for cutting intricate shapes in hard materials like hardened metals. CNC Router Cutting: Like CNC milling, it uses a rotating cutting tool to shape materials such as wood, plastic, and composite materials. Common in the manufacturing of furniture, signs, and architectural models.
