NEED

Sarao is a brand at the forefront of the corporate events and parties industry. It looks for more than creating a themed party, offering a memorable experience for all the participants. Sarao, as a company that plans and manages corporate events and theme parties in the Riviera Maya, Mexico, had been in great demand for events with aesthetics referring to the native culture of the peninsula. At the same time, Scenic Studios has found demand for Pakal sculpture outside of thematic events in outdoor decoration, both for aesthetic and cultural applications.

PROCESS

The sculpture was modeled in a 3D program with visual references to a bust of Pakal the Great, a Mayan lord of the B’aakal area in ancient Mexico, today Palenque. It was manufactured with high-density foam, CNC equipment, which our team sculpted, refined and sprayed with a special polyurea compound coat. This substance protects Styrofoam with a waterproof layer whose consistency allows more detailed modeling than fiberglass, while maintaining the durability of this material. The statue, with its base reaches 5.5 meters in height.

OUTCOME

More sculptures with various applications are expected. Whether for thematic, decorative or cultural purposes, the imposing presence of the Mayan lord gives an atmosphere of solemnity, royalty, mysticism and timelessness.
