NEED

Sarao is a leading brand in the corporate events and parties industry. It aims to do more than simply create a themed party; it strives to offer a memorable experience for all participants. Sarao, a company that plans and manages corporate events and themed parties in the Riviera Maya, Mexico, had experienced high demand for events with an aesthetic inspired by the peninsula's native culture. Simultaneously, Scenic Studios has found demand for the Pakal sculpture outside themed events for both aesthetic and cultural applications.

PROCESS

The sculpture was modeled in a 3D program using visual references to a bust of Pakal the Great, ruler of the B'aakal region, now Palenque. It was manufactured using CNC equipment from high-density polystyrene foam, which our team then sculpted, refined, and sprayed with polyurethane foam. This substance protects the polystyrene with a waterproof layer whose consistency allows for more detailed modeling than fiberglass, while maintaining the material's durability. The statue, including its base, reaches a height of 5.5 meters.

RESULT

More sculptures are expected to be created for various applications. Whether for thematic, decorative, or cultural purposes, the imposing presence of the Mayan lord lends an atmosphere of solemnity, royalty, mysticism, and timelessness.
