Most famous sculptures in Mexico
Mexico is also distinguished by large sculptures that represent us before any country, we share some of them.
The Angel of Independence or Winged Victory
Made as an honorary column topped with a statue of the Winged Victory holding a laurel wreath and a broken three-link chain, this column in turn on a stepped pedestal completed by different statues and inscriptions allegorical to the independence of Mexico.

Diana the Huntress
One of the most representative sculptural works of Mexican art, it has an interesting history, a reflection of the political, social and cultural changes in Mexico City, a metropolis that has elevated it as one of its most precious urban symbols. Monument to women, a monument to the beauty of the naked body, a monument to freedom.

The Olmec Colossal Heads
The heads were carved from blocks or rocks of volcanic basalt found in the Sierra de Los Tuxtlas.

The Atlanteans of Tula
The Atlantes are monolithic monuments belonging to the Toltec culture, these are located in the archaeological zone of Tula, State of Hidalgo, also known as Tollan-Xicocotitlan, these monoliths measure just over 4.5 meters high, carved in basaltic stone, They are representations of Toltec warriors, dressed with a butterfly breastplate, Atlatl, darts, a flint knife and a curved weapon that is very characteristic of the warrior representations of the Toltec culture, they were found in 1940 by the archaeologist Jorge Acosta.

Aztec Calendar or the Stone of the Sun
The Stone of the Sun is a monolithic basalt disk with inscriptions alluding to the Mexica cosmogony and solar cults. It is commonly and incorrectly called the Aztec Calendar. It was probably a cuauhxicalli (ceremonial vessel) or a temalácatl or gladiatorial sacrificial altar, probably involved in the Mexican festival Tlacaxipehualiztli. It measures 3.60 meters in diameter, 122 centimeters thick and weighs more than 24 tons. Probably in Nahuatl it was called Ollin Tonatiuhtlan which means "Tonatiuhtlan de Ollin" or "Sun of Movement". This way of calling it is related to the way in which, according to the Mexica cosmogony, the era of the Fifth Sun is expected to end; the previous four were named after the way that sun would end; "Ollin Tonatiuh" is said to end with a series of earthquakes.
